In several shoulder injuries there will be a pain that is described as dull or deep achy pain. This type of pain may be difficult to describe or to pinpoint. Consider the following injuries and conditions associated with this type of pain:
  • Rotator cuff tear is one of the shoulder problems that can cause dull, achy shoulder pain. However, tears caused by an accident may cause severe pain. A rotator cuff tear can be triggered by a wearing down of the rotator cuff tendons over time or from a traumatic event, such as an accident or a fall.
  • SLAP tear, it is a tear to the cartilage that rings the shoulder’s socket. These shoulder injuries can cause deep, achy shoulder pain and it is very difficult to pinpoint. The pain is usually felt at the back of the shoulder. Sometime you may feel the pain at the front of the shoulder if the SLAP tears involve the biceps tendon. Usually, SLAP tears develop over time but sometimes it may develop from acute injuries like fall or accident

In such a condition patient may feel burning sensation or dull ache. It can also cause radiating pain in upper arm It is important to understand that the pain may not be truly because if subacromial bursitis but can also be caused by rotator cuff tear

Pain and other symptoms

It is important to understand that shoulder pain usually associated or comes with other symptoms. Some associate symptoms are like weakness in arm, shoulder stiffness with or without limited range of motion. A weightlifter, for example having a SLAP tear may have trouble lifting weights overhead.
